A major step forward to deliver next generation connectivity services to support the digital transformation and economic growth of India.

SINGAPORE, August 21, 2015 – Global Cloud Xchange (GCX), a subsidiary of Reliance Communications (RCOM), to expand Singapore-India connectivity to a broader base of global enterprises and carriers.

GCX will acquire capacity on the TIC cable between Singapore and Chennai.  It would be extended to the seven Indian Capital Cities on GCX domestic network within India. This terrestrial and submarine network will play a key role in Reliance’s expansion of its Cloud Xchange (Cloud X) nodes which will be the terminal points across this new network.

“We are pleased to utilize the existing subsea cable infrastructure to deliver immediate capacity to meet growing requirements of our global business customers,” said Bill Barney, CEO of Reliance Communications (Enterprise) and GCX. “This will also support our digital backbone as we complete deployment of our Cloud X nodes across India.”

Based on current 100G technology, GCX will be able to deliver significant capacity across this important Singapore-India route with possibilities to increase it in future based on technological advancements and market demand. This capacity will interconnect with RCOM’s established network of data centers, connected by India’s largest terrestrial fiber network which also connects seamlessly into GCX’s global infrastructure –the world’s largest privately owned subsea cable system.

While RCOM’s infrastructure already constitutes a vital core of India’s digital backbone, the enhanced Singapore-India connectivity will deliver further diversity to meet growing market demands. “This will be a mission-critical component in the digital transformation of India and its connectivity to the world,” Barney added.
